Tanning the wood in the sun.

Part of a Longfellow poem.

Scroll carving.

I have been building violins for about 15 years in mid-Minnesota. Initially I copied every style I could find to see what different shapes, designs, makers and sizes sounded like.

The last couple of years, I have been copying a violin found at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota. The Long Pattern "Harrison Stradivari". It is my favorite violin.

I am a member of the Violin Society of America.

I have also made violas. My favorite viola design is the Maggini.

If you are interested in commissioning an instrument, please email or call. I also have several on hand in the shop.
